Day: Sunday
Time: Noon to 10 p.m.
Location: Montalvo Arts Center
Performance Duration: All Day

Description

Artistic expression goes beyond the cutting edge with the Bleeding Edge Festival. The festival, features 19 bands performing on four stages throughout the Montalvo grounds.

If the term “cutting edge” identifies the most adventurous and progressive forms of artistic expression, the Bleeding Edge Festival promises to be an exploration of the messy aftermath, the fluidity of genres that follows in the wake of the transgressive cultural moment: post-electronic, post-independent, post-fringe. The festival is divided into two distinct categories, “experimental electronica” and “indie rock.”

Participating artists include: The Avett Brothers, Black Dice William Basinski, Frank Bretschneider, Brightblack Morning Light Richard Chartier, The Chemistry Set, Flying Frivolous, Tim Hecker, Isis, Matmos and Zeena Parkins, Greg McGrath, Portable Luther Russell, Skoltz_Kolgen, Robert Stillman's Horses, Sunroof!, Luke Temple, Yo La Tengo

The festival will also sponsor a juried competition for experimental/indie artists and bands. Two winners will be selected to receive a two-week stay in Whitefish, Montana, to record at the SnowGhost Sound Studios and will also be awarded a live performance slot at the Bleeding Edge Festival.

The Bleeding Edge Festival is co-curated by Brett Allen of SnowGhost Sound Studios, and Robert Crouch.
