Troika Ranch Day: Saturday and Sunday Time: 3:00 p.m. Location: San Jose Repertory Theater Ticket Price: $25 Performance Duration: Tickets here!
Troika Ranch is digital dance theater. The evocative loveliness of 16 [R]evolutions is the product of those three words. Troika Ranch collaborators, Mark Coniglio and Dawn Stoppiello, describe the piece as, “A multimedia work that condenses 100,000 years of evolution into an evening length performance.” An exquisite painting of performance space with digital media, using bodies to stimulate color and generate visions of light and electronic transmission, 16 [R]evolutions is eloquent, moving, and mesmerizing. Watching Troika Ranch fills the viewer with the exquisite sensation of discovery as revealed through the lens of their movement work; seamlessly integrated with new media art. The hybrid performance is constructed around the idea of tracing the path from the pure drives of the pre-human animal and ends with today’s post intellectual man. The linkage between human and technology, the use of custom designed sensory systems and interactive computer technologies allow the performer’s movements and vocalizations to manipulate digital media in real time. The result? Extraordinary. Sponsored by Arts Council England and Essexdance |
