FLASH MOVIE INTENSIVE

In this intensive, immersive training experience, students will learn character animation tools in ADOBE Flash 8, and working in a creative group environment, create their own flash-based movies for multi-platform distribution -- on the web, cell phones, video ipods, etc. This class covers the 12 principles of animation as well as other important techniques, including storyboarding, drawing, animating your own stories, and creating vibrant characters using Flash. All student projects will be included in the BAVC FLASH/POINT Film Festival, and at the end of the bootcamp, all students will receive a guide to web distribution for independent producers.

A solid introduction to the world of digital postproduction through the eyes of the artist AND technician - this course is a creative entree to the "why" and "when" of editing. In addition to workflow, project management and non-linear technology, there will be an overview of nonlinear editing systems including Avid Xpress Pro and Final Cut Pro. This course is the first step for any editor seeking a career, a deeper knowledge of the process, or assistance choosing an editing platform. There will be a short editing project and numerous hands-on activities.

Learn one of the most popular applications for print, video, and the Web – Adobe Illustrator! This hands-on workshop explores the basic skills and tools involved with object-oriented illustration and text layouts. Topics will include: working with vector shapes, text manipulation, painting tools and techniques, using filters with objects, brushes settings, swatches, creating gradients, managing multiple layers, 2D transformations, importing bitmap graphics, file formats for output, and more.

In this two-day intensive, students will work digital imaging fundamentals in Adobe Photoshop to become familiar with its basic interface, and will learn the tools used to manipulate and edit digitized images. Students will also learn how to digitize images through scanning and how to target images for print and for the Internet. Topics include: Image manipulation tools and techniques, Digital imaging fundamentals, Scanning, File formats, Using and managing layers, Making selections, Image adjustment layers, basic masking techniques, history palette, and more.
