Interrogating the Invisible

Ian Clotheir is an artist writer and lecturer at the Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki, New Zealand. A direct maternal descendant of the Tahitians and mutineers of HMS Bounty, he has an MA from Auckland University of Technology, and major themes of his research based practice are cultural hybridity and nonlinearity. Co-organiser of SCANZ 2006, he was a member of the Interactive City international jury for ISEA 2006, and was selected for the Finger Lakes Eco Film Festival (online category). In 2005 he was selected by ZKM (Germany) for Public Assembly, exhibited at prog:me in Rio de Janeiro, was a finalist in the Vodafone Digital Art Awards and was awarded a Human Interface Technology Lab NZ (HiTLabNZ) Artist Fellowship from the University of Canterbury. His work was selected for ISEA 2004, and he has previously exhibited in Dublin, Vancouver and Hobart. Academic papers include those for Convergence and Digital Creativity; he addressed the Ninth International Conference on Thinking among many conferences and the ezine he edits was included in the exhibition Wayleave in Rome.
