Neighborhood Public Radio

Linda Arnejo has a wife and four kids. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and is one of two Filipino/Jews in the United States that she knows of. She studied art history for what seems like her entire life. Her love for the Art Deco Period inspired her to become a graphic artist. She feels her purpose is to INFORM. She worked for the AIDS Project East Bay, APEB, developing and producing their first newsletter which fostered awareness of HIV and AIDS through interviews, articles, and coverage of local events. She also coordinated APEB’s media campaign, setting up spots for interviews on the radio, and developing the concept for their annual fundraiser.

At Neighborhood Public Radio, NPR, she collaborated on the installation “Evenings and Weekends.” This live radio project focused on the San Francisco South of Market and Mission areas. Linda specifically targeted recruitment of the Filipino community and the history of their migration to San Francisco and to the SOMA neighborhood.

Linda’s most recent work with NPR was with the “Indecency” project based out of a storefront on Valencia Street at Artist Television Access. She interviewed a member of Lusty Lady, a unionized peep show owned and operated by its workers, erotica editor Violet Blue, drag queen Ivy Drip, Sia Amma, the executive director of Global Women Intact a female circumcision activist group, and a class of 4th grade children. Her radio persona is positive, funny and provocative.
