UNIQUE FESTIVAL COULD BOOST CITY'S PROFILE By Jack Fischer Mercury News http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/entertainment/visual_arts/14823230.htm
"ZeroOne San Jose: A Global Festival of Art on the Edge" is expected to draw an international group of artists and academics downtown Aug. 7-13 to showcase and discuss the uses of technology in art. Civic leaders, who gathered at the San Jose Museum of Art on Wednesday morning, hope the festival -- which has no real counterpart elsewhere in the nation -- will develop into a biennial event that will "brand" San Jose as the nation's center for such art. "It's important to have something to differentiate us," Dan Keegan, executive director of the art museum and a moving force behind the festival, said Wednesday. "This is the perfect match for the community and the region. It's something that can re-energize San Jose and Silicon Valley around the intersection of creativity, innovation and art." |
