David Drake is a writer, media producer and filmmaker based in Bristol, United Kingdom. For 25 years he has worked professionally in the area of arts, media and cultural activism, and believes in the intrinsic value of creative endeavour as well as its social and economic impact. From establishing a media production and training centre in London in the early 1980s, David has worked as a director of Visual Arts and Media for Arts Council England, and produced films, books and online artworks, and programmed events, festivals and exhibitions. David’s practice and research has taken him to far-flung places in both the developing and developed world. He has an enduring fascination for cities, and an interest in the relationship between our physical, virtual and psycho-geographical experience of urban spaces. Commissioned as a focal project within the Creative Bristol festival in 2005/6, David's latest work Electric Pavilion seeks to represent the cultural life of a modern city in transition as an online experience, overlaid on the real city of Bristol. |
