Diary of a Pakistani Vegetable Cart
Community Culture through Multimedia

Atteqa Malik is a freelance digital artist and scholar, interested in studying, reacting to and teaching about the changes that arise in the human condition as old values meet new technology. She received an MA in Media Studies from the New School University, New York and has been living in Pakistan for the last decade.

She presented her most recent paper "Media art in Pakistan_Not just another "in your face" advertisement campaign!" at the First International Conference on the Histories of Media Art, Science and Technology. This was held at the Banff New Media Institute in Canada, Oct. 2005. In May 2005, Atteqa mentored a small group of teenagers from a local school as they participated in creating audio pieces for the UNESCO Young Digital Creators "Sound of our water" project. Atteqa's graphic piece called "Eyes glued to the screen but missing the real picture" was selected in June 2005 for the II INTERNATIONAL EXHIBIT OF DIGITAL ART ORILLA#05, Santa Fe, Argentina. She is currently working to realize a prize-winning proposal for digital storytelling of Intangible Heritage, recognized by Nabi Art Center, Korea in October 2004. Title of the project is "Diary of a Pakistani Vegetable Cart".
