Mark Pesce is the co-inventor of the Virtual Reality Modeling Language (with Tony Parisi), and gave a keynote address to ISEA 1996 in Montreal (which caused no small uproar because of its all-too-casual blending of scientific and metaphysical modes of discourse). He is the author of five books, including "The Playful World: How Technology is Transforming Our Imagination" (Ballantine Books, 2000), which posited that children growing up in a broadly interactive world use new models for understanding how to work in the world. After founding the Interactive Media program at the USC School of Cinema Television in 1998, he went on to found the Emerging Media and Interactive Design program at the Australian Film Television and Radio School in 2003. He works and lives in Sydney. Mark Pesce's website http://www.playfuworld.com/ |
