Caroline McCaw is an artist, designer, educator and advocate whose work connects themes of community building and the role of the viewer/reader in participatory art and design practices. She has worked collaboratively with many artists on projects which span national and international locations, and online spaces. Her works propose questions surrounding how identity and cultural assumptions developed in local situations are practiced in networked and mediated experiences. Originally from Wellington, New Zealand's capital city, McCaw (b.1968) currently lives further south in Dunedin New Zealand, where she has designed independent media and exhibited participatory art and performance regularly for 16 years. She lectures in Communication and New Media Theory at Otago University and Otago Polytechnic Design departments.
